Desde quando nascemos, somos ensinados o que podemos ou não podemos fazer de acordo com nosso gênero. O doutrinamento de gênero começa com as cores dos enxovais, os brinquedos que ganhamos de presente e o tipo de roupa que nossos pais nos dão para vestir.
Meninas usam vestidinhos de princesas, meninos usam camisetas de super heróis. Enquanto os garotos brincam com carros, brinquedos de montar e praticam atividades que lhes estimulam o contato com o mundo exterior, as meninas recebem jogos de panelas, pias, utensílios domésticos de brinquedo e aprendem a brincar com bonecas, fingindo que são mães. As garotas ganham Barbies de cabelos loiros, com corpos irrealmente magros, e escutam que precisam ser bonitas e agir como donzelas.
Isso é o que chamo de doutrinação de gênero. Nossa cultura tem uma forte ideologia de gênero sendo disseminada pela sociedade, nas escolas, nos ambientes de lazer e nas famílias brasileiras, sejam ela tradicionais ou não. E a pior parte disso é que essas ideias sobre o que é “ser menino” ou “ser menina” estão contaminadas por hierarquizações; ou seja, as crianças acabam aprendendo que meninos podem fazer mais coisas e que as meninas devem agir de maneira submissa e contida. Na prática, o machismo é perpetuado: os homens aprendem a ser predadores e as mulheres enfrentam altos índices de violência machista – aquela que acontece contra as mulheres por motivações misóginas, como a ideia de que devem obedecer seus parceiros ou que não podem rejeitar um avanço sexual.

– Divisão desigual de tarefas domésticas
A Plan Brasil realizou uma pesquisa com meninas de 6 a 14 anos, em 2014, e os resultados mostram que a desigualdade entre homens e mulheres começa em casa: 76,3% dos lares são cuidados exclusivamente pela mãe. E já que a mãe é a responsável pelos cuidados domésticos e infantis, a ideia de que mulheres devem ser as únicas responsáveis por essas tarefas se naturaliza. Por isso, 81,4% das meninas entrevistadas responderam que arrumam a própria cama, 76,8% lavam a louça e 65,6% limpam a casa, enquanto apenas 11,6% dos seus irmãos arruma a própria cama, 12,5% lavam a louça e 11,4% limpam a casa.
Por qual motivo as garotas são as únicas que “ajudam” as mães nos cuidados domésticos, enquanto os garotos desfrutam de mais tempo livre para brincar e estudar? Esse tipo de informação ainda soa muito naturalizada para as pessoas; afinal, mesmo entre adultos, essa divisão do trabalho é uma realidade. Enquanto os homens descansam, as mulheres se desdobram em jornadas triplas de trabalho: fora de casa, dentro de casa e com as crianças.
Se as questões de gênero fossem discutidas nas escolas, as crianças teriam a oportunidade de entender que todos são responsáveis pelos cuidados do lar e que a paternidade não é isenta de tarefas dedicadas aos filhos.
– Machismo no ambiente educativo
Segundo uma recente pesquisa realizada pela Agência ÉNois, com garotas entre 14 e 24 anos, 39% já sofreram algum tipo de preconceito na faculdade por serem mulheres. Ou seja, as garotas podem até estudar, mas nem por isso deixam de enfrentar o machismo dentro das salas de aula. Em muitos casos, os professores são os próprios responsáveis pelas situações de discriminação, quando tecem comentários sexistas ou constrangem suas alunas. Além disso, os colegas homens também podem exercer um papel assediador e agressor nesses ambientes – muitas universidades brasileiras enfrentam casos gravíssimos de estupro e violência contra as alunas.
No ambiente escolar infantil, a discriminação pode existir de maneiras naturalizadas – como a divisão desigual do acesso aos esportes, quando os meninos têm mais dias e tempo na quadras, ou quando atividades são separadas de acordo com o gênero das crianças.
– O machismo amedronta as garotas
De acordo com os dados divulgados pela Agência ÉNois, 94% da jovens entrevistadas já sofreram assédio sexual verbal feito por homens, enquanto 90% já deixaram de fazer alguma coisa devido ao medo da violência. Se 9 entre cada 10 garotas já deixaram de fazer algo por conta do medo de sofrerem assédio, de serem vítimas de estupro ou de enfrentarem outros tipos de violência, isso mostra que nossa sociedade não permite que as mulheres sejam realmente livres. Essa falta de liberdade encontra reforço no silêncio e na ausência de discussões educativas sobre o que é machismo.
Para que esses números diminuam, é preciso que os garotos aprendam, desde cedo, que o respeito pelas mulheres é algo mandatório. Não estamos falando aqui de ensinar qual time torcer, qual religião professar ou que tipo de posicionamento político adotar; falamos sobre violência, de mulheres apanhando, sendo estupradas e morrendo. O respeito pelas mulheres não é opcional ou questão de opinião.
– O machismo afeta o desenvolvimento das garotas
Segundo as informações colhidas pela Agência ÉNois, 77% das garotas acham que o machismo afeta seu desenvolvimento. Isso acontece porque as meninas crescem ouvindo que não podem realizar certas atividades, que determinadas profissões são “masculinas” ou que elas devem adotar um tipo de comportamento que as limita. Ditar barreiras que as meninas não podem transpor só pelo fato de seres meninas é algo que prejudica muito o seu desenvolvimento – isso mina sua autoconfiança, destrói sua autoestima e as ensina que não são capazes, somente por serem do gênero feminino.
– Trabalhar a igualdade na escola pode ser muito simples
Esqueça os longos textos cheios de termos acadêmicos e as discussões complexas sobre o que é gênero e o que é sexualidade – eles podem ter um papel importante na Universidade e em outros ambientes educativos, mas, com crianças, as questões de gênero são muito mais simples.
Estimular que as crianças se divirtam juntas, sem fazer distinção entre elas, sem impor que brinquem com brinquedos e atividades separadas pelo gênero – ou ainda permitir que adolescentes transgênero tenham um ambiente seguro onde sejam respeitados – são coisas desenvolvidas na prática, de maneira tão fluida quanto são naturalizadas as ideias machistas.
Professores capacitados se tornam aptos a discutir sobre questões de gênero de maneira acessível, utilizando exemplos, atividades lúdicas e conversas sinceras. Até mesmo um desenho animado pode repassar mensagens positivas sobre equidade entre meninos e meninas. As crianças são capazes de aprender muito rapidamente – para assimilarem e reproduzirem valores de respeito umas pelas outras, somente uma educação livre de machismo será capaz de favorecer.

Talvez essa seja melhor forma de promover a equidade e combater os altos números de estupros, feminicídios e violência doméstica, além de desestimular a desigualdade salarial e outras tantas mazelas que se baseiam no machismo.
Muitos julgam ter a cabeça já bem “moderninha” e pensam que os tempos são outros. Porém, por mais que tenhamos avançado bastante na conquista dos direitos das mulheres, no dia-a-dia a cultura machista ainda é dominante. Embora leis sejam importantes, elas não solucionam definitivamente o problema da violência contra a mulher, porque somente um esforço educativo pode disseminar valores de igualdade e respeito. Por isso, discutir gênero nas escolas é importante e urgente: afinal, o papel do ambiente escolar não é somente preparar os alunos para provas e vestibulares, mas também promover a cidadania e a responsabilidade social para professores, coordenadores, funcionários, alunos e suas famílias.
