Em quase todas as discussões sobre racismo, aparece alguém para dizer que já sofreu racismo por ser branco ou que conhece um amigo que sim. Pessoa, esse texto é para você.
Não existe racismo de negros contra brancos ou, como gostam de chamar, o tão famigerado racismo reverso. Primeiro, é necessário se ater aos conceitos. Racismo é um sistema de opressão e, para haver racismo, deve haver relações de poder. Negros não possuem poder institucional para serem racistas. A população negra sofre um histórico de opressão e violência que a exclui.
Para haver racismo reverso, deveria ter existido navios branqueiros, escravização por mais de 300 anos da população branca, negação de direitos a essa população. Brancos são mortos por serem brancos? São seguidos por seguranças em lojas? Qual é a cor da maioria dos atores, atrizes e apresentadores de TV? Dos diretores de novelas? Qual é a cor da maioria dos universitários? Quem são os donos dos meios de produção? Há uma hegemonia branca criada pelo racismo que confere privilégios sociais a um grupo em detrimento de outro.
Em agosto deste ano, Danilo Gentili quis comparar o fato de ser chamado de palmito com o fato de um negro ser chamado de carvão. E disse ser vítima de racismo, mostrando o quanto ignora o conceito. Ser chamado de palmito pode até ser chato e de mau gosto, mas racismo não é. A estética branca não é estigmatizada. Ao contrário, é a que é colocada como bela, como padrão. Danilo Gentili cresceu num País onde pessoas como ele estão em maioria na mídia, ele desde sempre pôde se reconhecer. Pode até ser chato, mas ele não é discriminado por isso. Que poder tem uma pessoa negra de influenciar a vida dele por chamá-lo de palmito? Nenhum. Agora, um jovem negro pode ser morto por ser negro, eu posso não ser contratada por uma empresa porque eu sou negra, ter mais dificuldades para ter acesso à universidade por conta do racismo estrutural. Isso sim tem poder de influenciar minha vida. Racismo vai além de ofensas, é um sistema que nos nega direitos.
Gentili com esse discurso de falsa simetria só mostra o quanto precisa estudar mais. Não se pode comparar situações radicalmente diferentes. Quantas vezes esse ser foi impedido de entrar em algum lugar por que é branco? Em contrapartida, a população negra tem suas escolhas limitadas. Crianças negras crescem sem auto-estima porque não se veem na TV, nos livros didáticos. Mesmo raciocínio se aplica às loiras que são vítimas de piadas de mau gosto ao serem associadas à burrice.
É óbvio que se trata de preconceito dizer que loiras são burras e isso deve ser combatido. Mas não existe uma ideologia de ódio em relação às mulheres loiras, elas não deixaram de ser a maioria das apresentadoras de TV, das estrelas de cinema, das capas de revistas por causa disso. Não são barradas em estabelecimentos por serem brancas e loiras. Sofrem com a opressão machista, sim, mas não são discriminadas por serem brancas porque o grupo racial a que fazem parte é o grupo que está no poder. Há que se fazer a diferenciação aqui entre sofrimento e opressão. Sofrer, todos sofrem, faz parte da condição humana, mas opressão é quando um grupo detém privilégios em detrimento de outro. Ser chamado de palmito é ruim e pode machucar, mas não impede que a pessoa desfrute de um lugar privilegiado na sociedade, não causa sofrimento social.
Uma amiga, na infância, uma vez, não deixou que eu e meus irmãos entrássemos na sua festa, apesar de nos ter convidado, porque seu tio não gostava de negros. E nos servia na calçada da casa dela até que, indignados, fomos embora. Alguma pessoa branca já passou por isso exclusivamente por ser branca?
Muitas vezes o que pode ocorrer é um modo de defesa, algumas pessoas negras, cansadas de sofrer racismo, agem de modo a rejeitar de modo direto a branquitude, mas isso é uma reação à opressão e também não configura racismo. Eu posso fazer uma careta e chamar alguém de branquela. A pessoa fica triste, mas que poder social essa minha atitude tem? Agora, ser xingada por ser negra é mais um elemento do racismo instituído que, além de me ofender, me nega espaço e limita minhas escolhas. Vestir nossa pele e ter empatia por nossas dores, a maioria não quer. Melhor fingir-se de vítima numa situação onde se é o algoz. Esse discursinho barato de “brancofobia” quando a população branca é a que está nos espaços de poder faz Dandara se remexer no túmulo.
Não se pode confundir racismo com preconceito e com má educação. É errado xingar alguém, óbvio, ser chamado de palmito é feio e bobo, mas racismo não é. Para haver racismo, deve haver relação de poder, e a população negra não é a que está no poder. Acreditar em racismo reverso é mais um modo de mascarar esse racismo perverso em que vivemos. É a mesma coisa que acreditar em unicórnios, só que acreditar em cavalos com chifres não causa mal algum e não perpetua a desigualdade.
